Pickings from God's spiritual grapevine

Salvation occurs in a moment of time. It is not a process. You cannot be working to be saved and go to heaven. You are either saved at this moment or you are not. John says in John 1:12, But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. The tense of the verb, received, gives a snapshot of an event. That means that some action happened in past. What happened? There were some who said yes to Jesus Christ. They gave up religion and they gave in to Jesus. But it happened in a moment of time. Each one who claims to be saved must be able to go back to a moment when they believed. You do not have to remember the words you said for words don’t save you; but you must be certain there was an occasion when you believed in Jesus.

God gave to those who believe in Jesus the right to become the children of God. This too occurs in a moment of time. God does not dole out spiritual blessings over a period of time. His spiritual blessings are not based upon how good we are after we believe. They are based upon our trust in Jesus, and they are given to us at the very moment we say yes to Jesus.

These are precious and wonderful truths. We can know if we are saved or not, and we can know what God gave us when we believed. Have you come to that place where you know for certain that you have eternal life and when you die, you will go to heaven?
